ALiF 2025 – 3rd – 5th September 2025:

From 3 to 5 September 2025, the sixth Arabic Linguistic Forum (The Forum) took place at the Institute of Oriental Studies at the University of Vienna. More than 100 scholars from 22 countries participated, both on site and online. During the three days of the conference, research projects and results in Arabic linguistics were presented and discussed in three parallel sections.

The lively discussions and numerous professional encounters impressively demonstrated the forum’s function as a central platform for international exchange in Arabic linguistics. In addition to presenting new research findings, the conference offered numerous opportunities to deepen scientific contacts and develop future collaborations. Numerous encounters served not only as a forum for professional exchange, but also as an opportunity to receive constructive feedback on ongoing projects, establish new networks, and gain insights beyond one’s own research horizon. In this way, the forum promoted dialogue between established experts and young scientists alike and contributed to a sustainable strengthening of the international research community.

The sixth Arabic Linguistic Forum was thus another significant enrichment for the professional community and once again underlined the high value of interdisciplinary and international dialogue in Arabic linguistics.

It was a special honour for the WIBARAB team at the University of Vienna to be responsible for organising the event, which was held in Vienna for the first time.

We would like to thank all participants who contributed significantly to the success of this conference through their presence, their numerous presentations and their enthusiastic participation, and we hope that our paths will cross again in the future.
