Vienna 2025 | رواق العربية – the Arabic Linguistics Forum
The 6th Arabic Linguistics Forum conference will take place at University of Vienna on from Wednesday, 3rd to Friday, 5th September 2025.
As in previous years, the aim of this international Arabic Linguistics Forum is to provide a forum for researchers from Europe, the Middle East, and beyond to exchange insights on all areas of Arabic linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, morphology, dialectology, sociolinguistics, discourse and conversation analysis, historical linguistics, language acquisition, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, and applied linguistics.
This year’s conference is organized in collaboration with the ERC-Advanced project, WIBARAB (What is Bedouin-type Arabic?), which explores the linguistic and socio-historical dynamics behind the long-standing distinction between nomadic and sedentary populations in the Middle East and North Africa. On the conference’s opening day, members of the WIBARAB project will present a special panel presenting their primary findings and milestones achieved over the past four years.

Information about registration and cancellation policy
Important dates:
- Registration is open between 16/04/2025 and 16/06/2025 via this link:

- Cancellations received by 15/07/2025 (11:59 pm CET) will receive 100% of the paid conference fee refunded.
- Cancellations received from 16/07/2025 until 16/08/2025 (11:59 pm CET) will receive 50% of the paid conference fee refunded.
- Cancellations received after 16/08/2025 (11:59 pm CET) or no-shows will receive no refund of the paid conference fee.
- If you have registered for online participation but decide to participate on-site later, you can do this until 16/08/2025. The difference of EUR 60 has to be paid.
- If you have register for on-site participation but will participate online, we cannot refund the difference.

Conference fees:
Fees (including lunches, coffee breaks, one conference dinner, as well as a certificate of participation and necessary material) are as follows:
– participation in person: general 170 euros, students 120 euros
– participation online: general 110 euros, students 70 euros
